Hawks Fly High in Chico

REMINDER: This week we will ALL meet in Davis for practice on Monday at 5:30. The meeting location is on the Greenbelt in the Northstar neighborhood, near the Baja Mini Playground. On Wednesday we will hold practices at both locations – in Davis (at the same location) and West Sacramento at the Bridgeway Lakes Boathouse off of Southport Parkway south of Marshall Rd.

This weekend an intrepid group of Hawks traveled to Chico to compete in the Chico Autumn Festival. We competed in the Middle School and under races, which meant most of the athletes were in seventh and eighth grade. We fought hard and it was clear we belonged! We had two medalists in the top ten of their races – Will Welch and Mia Jackson. We also finished fourth as a team on the girl’s side, and fifth in the boy’s races, despite having a handful of elementary-aged kids on our teams! Of particular note, Rudi Fulenwider had a breakout performance in the non-championship race, finishing in 9:14 and running the fifth fastest time for a Hawk in the meet!

This coming weekend we compete in North Sacramento at the Flat SAC Invitational at Gibson Ranch Regional Park. This is a very big meet with high school races following the youth races, so parking can be tough. Be sure to arrive early to manage the traffic and get your athlete to the tent on time!

We only have one more meet following Flat Sac before we head off to Nationals in late November, so try to make it to this meet if you can.
