Hawks Break Out at Lagoon Valley!

REMINDER: This week we will ALL meet in Davis for practice on Monday at 5:30. The meeting location is on the Greenbelt in the Northstar neighborhood, near the Baja Mini Playground. I recognize that it is a holiday – if you cannot join us, please do a run on your own. On Wednesday we will hold practices at both locations – in Davis (at the same location) and West Sacramento at the Bridgeway Lakes Boathouse off of Southport Parkway south of Marshall Rd.
This past weekend we had several Hawks competing at the Lagoon Valley Classic, and they all ran like true hawks flying across the course! In the boy’s race, Hugo led the way and just missed out on a medal, with Jack, William, and Rudi coming in fast behind him. (Evan ran great as well for his middle school team.) On the girl’s side, our new runner Betsy Steed was our low stick finishing 9th overall, with Josie and Mia also earning medals, followed by Rosalind, Cypress, and Kailey. The girl’s team ran so well they finished 5th despite having only one seventh grader, two sixth graders, and then a bunch of third and fourth graders (against middle school teams!).
Our next meet is the American River Open this Friday. This is a super fun race where we strongly encourage all Hawks to compete. There are two age groups – 6th grade and under and 7th/8th. The first race starts at 4:45, so we need everyone to arrive by 3:45 so we can hand out bibs and warm up the runners.
Also, we need to know if you’re able to attend by Monday night. In order for us to register your athlete for each meet, you must indicate your intention to attend on the TeamSNAP app. This is a helpful blog post describing how to register for each meet (you can skip STEP 2 for the cross country season).
