Another Work Week for the Hawks

PLEASE NOTE: Both practices (Monday and Wednesday) will be in Davis for everyone this week. Monday we will meet at Community Park at 5:30, and Wednesday we will meet at the UC Davis Track at 5:30.
Please try to be to practice on time. We want to start practice at 5:30 each day, and arriving late undermines your athlete’s ability to properly warm up and get the most out of practice.
This week we continue to ramp up our practices – without a meet this coming weekend we can get some good work done to build strength.
Our next meet is in two weeks on April 11th, also at Inderkum High School. Please let us know if you are interested in attending, it is open to anyone on the team. Here is a blog post that describes how to register for meets. More information about the meet will hopefully be available soon.
This week, we will break the team up into groups based on our team colors. We will have a black group, doing the highest volume at the fastest times. The next group is the white group, doing a medium workload. The other group is for the newer runners, the yellow group.
If you’re traveling for spring break, get some runs in. Otherwise, try to join us as each week builds on the weeks prior and we don’t want Hawks to fall behind. Consistency is absolutely key to improvement in distance running!
Here we go, the schedule for this week is as follows:
MONDAY – 5:30pm
Meet at Community Park in Davis
15min fartlek (2/1)
1 mile easy (Black group)
4x200 w/200m jog
TUESDAY
Stretch and Recover
WEDNESDAY – 5:30pm
Meet at UC Davis track at the corner of Russell and A St
4x600 w/ 200m walk
4x200m w/ 200m jog
THURSDAY
Run On Your Own
2-5 miles
FRIDAY
Stretch and Recover
SATURDAY or SUNDAY
Long Run
4-8 miles
