Big Weekend for the Hawks!

What a big weekend for the Delta Hawks! The second SRA Meet, “PR-palooza,” really lived up to its name, as almost every Hawks improved their race times from the first SRA Meet! It was a beautiful day with even larger fields in each race, but that didn’t stop our athletes from running strong and demonstrating how much all their hard work has paid off. Henry and Will battled to the end to finish 7th and 8th in their race, while Sonia showed her experience by getting out strong and hanging in the top group to finish 9th overall in her race. The joy and excitement of each and every Hawk after their finish was infectious and reminded me why I love coaching youth runners!
On Saturday, several Hawks were able to participate in a running analysis and experience the cold plunge challenge at NorCal Physio (thank you NorCal Team!). It was a great experience for those able to go, and the coaches are working on additional dates for any Hawks who missed out and want to check it out.
Finally, Sunday a few Hawks traveled to San Francisco for a USATF meet where they faced their own age group runners but on a VERY challenging course. Almost the entire course was either uphill or downhill, but our trepidatious yet brave contingent went to battle against some of the best runners in our area. Dalton led us off with a strong performance in the “8 and under” boy’s race; Mia Jackson scored a medal with a 6th place finish in the girl’s 9-10 race; Pier and David both claimed hardware with 2nd and 10th place finishes in the 11-12 boy’s race. It was super fun!
