Another Amazing Performance By Our Hawks!

ree

On Saturday, the Hawks ran like champions at the Chico Autumn Invitational! The weather was perfect, the course was simple and true, and our runners showed up to compete. The “Top 7” race pitted five of our best boys and girls against the best runners on the club and middle school teams in attendance, and we took it to them!

The girl’s team, led by Sonia’s first place finish, finished second overall in a field of six teams. Sonia led much of the race, eventually finishing 15 seconds ahead of 2nd place. Amelia Weeks was our second finisher in 8th place, followed by Josie (18th), Maddi (20th), and Kate (21st). The girl’s team ran like a team, feeding off each other the entire race and finishing strong!

On the boy’s side, our team finished fifth out of nine teams. Our team, consisting of 3 sixth graders, one seventh grader and one eighth grader, was up against teams with all seventh/eighth graders and definitely held their own! Pier was our first finisher, battling with two eighth graders to finish second. Then we had David at 14th, followed by Gyan and Henry in 34th and 35th, and Jack rounding out our runners in 45th.

Finally, our runners in the other races also did well - Kailey, Dalton, William, and Cameron all ran super fast in their races!

Next Saturday, October 25th, is the FlatSAC meet at Gipson Ranch north of Sacramento. This is a 1.5 mile course on grass and dirt, and a really fun time. Flat SAC race features that have now become accustom for athletes and spectators include the Mira Loma Taiko Drum Corp pre-race performances; the PR Bell and living PR Art Wall; and free professional photography. First race is at 9am, please arrive by 8am – and plan for parking to take some time.

We are adding another meet to the calendar for any and all Hawks – another USATF meet with age groups in Rancho Cordova on Sunday, November 9th. As we get more info we will share it with you, but registration is due Monday, Nov 3 so please RSVP beforehand on the TeamSNAP.
